SoftLicenseGen is a developer license generating program. It allows the developer to create license keys for their programs and store the information in a database.
The License Keys allow the developer to create Evaluation software and Registered software with additional Hardware locks.


SoftLicenseGen generates two encrypted keys based on the software name and other License Criteria. A Software Master key which is embedded in the developer software, and a License Key file which is referenced by the developers compiled software at the time of use by the end user.


The Evaluation Key file generated by SoftLicenseGen can be used to allow the end user of the developers software to run a 30Day Evaluation of the software. The key file references the first use of the Executable. Using the functions within the DLL file the software can then be locked once the 30Days have expired.


If the end used requests a registered key, then SoftLicenseGen can be used to generate a new key that can be sent to the user and then installed on their computer.


The developer references a dynamic link library (DLL) in their development software to interrogate the license key and use the functions as required.(Samples are provided in the samples folder)




Using a License Key file rather than using registry keys to store the encrypted information has the advantage in that the file can be stored in the program installation folder. This folder is accessible to all users with administrative and user rights allowing, non administrative users to install the software and register the software.


The License Key Files are encrypted using Triple Data Encryption Algorithm (TDEA) or more commonly know as Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard).
