The main idea behind RenderPal is to offer a way of setting up a job queue which consists of various so called 'render sets'.

A render set, generally spoken, contains the various settings Maya has to offer plus one or more source files (your scenes).



All settings are separated into several categories (currently, there are 65 settings ?also called switches - in 9 categories). These settings were directly taken from Maya, so the experienced Maya user will be familiar with them (for those who aren’t, RenderPal offers a small dynamic help system).



These sets can then be added to the job queue. The job queue not only offers simple 'from top to bottom' rendering, but also has many exciting and helpful features like frame range splitting and image slicing.



Once you hit the 'Render' button, RenderPal begins to pass command-lines (and generates Mel scripts, if needed) to mayabatch.exe, which is the command-line renderer of Maya (tools of this kind are often called 'frontend').
